New method simplifies geodata sharing between government agencies within the EU

INSPIRE, the EG directive, aims at harmonising geographical data and ease the sharing of data between national and international government agencies. The directive dictates such things as a new structure for data and methods for its dissemination. 

This calls of a re-structuring of vast amounts of geographical data into a new model, amongst national and international agencies. This new model does not necessarily fit the agency-specific systems and subsequently pose a problem.
Metria and Canadian based Safe Software have in a combined effort designed a solution based on the GIS-software FME Server 2011 beta, which will help agencies comply with the Inspire directive.  

"The INSPIRE Directive requires solving complex spatial data transformation challenges." says Don Murray, President of Safe Software. "We are pleased to be a ready path forward for EU Member States and LMOs. By combining Safe and Metria's expertise, we have produced a prototype that clearly demonstrates how FME can ease the transition to INSPIRE's mandated pan-European spatial data infrastructure" .

The solution will be unveiled at the Inspire Conference 2010, held 22 to 26 June in Krakow, Poland.
